Starting with the same base Dominican Oro and Seco filler, the Cusano 18 comes in two different varieties: the Double Connecticut mixes in some Ligero and Olor beneath the dual USA Shade wrapper and binder, while the Paired Maduro has added Brazilian Mata Fina cloaked in a San Vicente Olor binder and all of it finished by a darker and toothy Connecticut Broadleaf.

The Macanudo Maduro consists of top-shelf Dominican and Mexican fillers and binders, finished with a rich, extra-fermented Connecticut broadleaf maduro wrapper. Made in Honduras, Vintage 1990 is blended with Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers, a spicy Nicaraguan binder, and a dark, oily Honduran Broadleaf wrapper. Though somewhat unconventional, this blend is what has earned Vintage 1990 some serious accolades over the years, including a 92 rating and two separate appearances on Cigar Aficionado's coveted Top 25 list. Firmly constructed, nearly seamless on the roll, a smooth draw produces silky gray smoke, delighting the palate with a rich, earthy flavor profile. Definitive notes of cocoa and black pepper are boldly stated, along with plenty of raw tobacco and a subtle grassy undertone. A bold, mocha finish ties the whole package together.

1 x New World Gobernador Toro - (6 ½” x 55, ●●●●○ Medium-Full). Released in 2014, the New World Gobernador by AJ Fernandez is a collaboration with his father, Ismael Fernandez, who came out of retirement after working 17 years with Plasencia. Filled with three different Nicaraguan tobaccos, viso from Ometepe, and ligeros from Condega and Esteli, this cigar is bound in a Jalapa binder and wrapped in a dark Nicaraguan wrapper leaf. The cigar is rigidly box-pressed and offers some of the best pre-light flavors. As soon as the New World touches your lips, there are strong notes of the best bitter, dark chocolate and earth. Once lit, the natural fruity maduro sweetness plays a much larger role the more you smoke. Each flavor note mixes with a subtle spice that makes the New World an extremely complex cigar, especially for one that is a puro.
